Dr. August De Hertogh Endowment

This endowment was created in memory of August (Gus) De Hertogh, who served as the chair for the Department of Horticultural Science at NC State University from 1978–1988. Reflecting Gus De Hertogh's immense dedication to the study of flower bulbs, this endowment supports educational programming for all ages at the Arboretum. Your gift to this endowment not only honors Gus's belief that knowledge should be freely shared, but will also help the JCRA expand the educational programs it offers to children, students, and adults alike.


Juniper Level Botanic Garden Endowment

Juniper Level Botanic Garden Endowment

A former student of J. C. Raulston, Tony Avent was inspired by J. C.’s passion for plants and botanical exploration. With this passion in mind, Tony build a 28 acre research garden with a highly sophisticated plant breeding program, a world-class plant collection, and a dedicated emphasis on plant conservation. Tony and Anita Avent have gifted their award-winning Juniper Level Botanic Garden to NC State’s JC Raulston Arboretum. This partnership brings together two renowned institutions to create a one-of-a-kind resource for plant research, conservation, education, and appreciation that benefits our state, the nation, and the world. The establishment of the Juniper Level Botanic Garden Endowment will provide the income needed to ensure that the Juniper Level Botanic Garden will reach its full potential! It is a nonprofit, charitable, and educational corporation (public charity) as defined by the IRS code 501(c)3. The NCAF was incorporated on November 24, 1944, in Raleigh, North Carolina, as a means of supporting agricultural research, extension, and teaching activities in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at NC State University.
