Visitor Etiquette

Visitor Guidelines

The JC Raulston Arboretum is part of NC State University’s campus. As such, visitors to the JCRA are expected to adhere to NC State University’s policies and regulations, which can be found on NC State’s Policies, Regulations and Rules website.

While you’re here, please protect the garden:

  • This is a teaching and research facility. Do not pick or remove anything from the JCRA and stay on the designated paths.
  • Pets, emotional support and therapy animals are not allowed. We welcome service animals.
  • Please supervise your children at all times for their safety and the welfare of the plants.
  • No bicycling, skating, skateboarding, scooters or rollerblading. A bike rack is located in the parking lot.
  • Sporting games and similar activities are not allowed – no footballs, soccer balls, discs, kites, etc.
  • Smoking or vaping is not permitted.
  • Keep our garden natural – no glitter, confetti or balloons.
  • Photographers are welcome, but please do not move benches or labels, stage people in trees or plantings, bring in large props, or block pathways. Keep visiting guests a priority. See additional guidelines.
  • No unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), also referred to as drones, per NC State University policy.
  • Certified nursery and landscape professionals are permitted to collect propagules from the JCRA’s plant collection with prior permission from a JCRA staff member.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
