Ardisia japonica 'Hakuou'

White King™ marlberry

Among our favorite plants are the lovely spreading ardisias which make such outstanding garden plants. This select form from Japan emerges pink before becoming pale green with a broad white margin. Mostly inconspicuous flowers are held below the foliage but the resulting bright red fruits peek out coyly from beneath the brightly variegated foliage. While the spreading woody stems are evergreen in warm gardens, they often die to the ground in colder winters but are outstanding even in deep shade.
