Gardening in the South is back! While gardening in the Southeastern US can have its challenges, particularly for new gardeners and gardeners new to the area, this region is absolutely brimming with potential for creating diverse and breathtaking garden spaces. Join us in-person or online for a morning symposium full of tips, tricks, and insights into Gardening in the South so that your Southeastern garden can start strong and stay glorious!

Registration is now open. We invite people new to the area or new to gardening to join us in person. Because we enjoy sharing all we know about this horticulturally rich area we call home, we invite more experienced gardeners to join us online to participate in the program. This program will also be uploaded to our YouTube channel after the event.

"Starting on the Right Foot"
Mark Weathington

A successful garden doesn’t start with the plants, it starts with the site. New to red clay? Have sandy soils? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Have a site that’s already planted but needs help? We can even help you deal with what the previous homeowner left for you.

"Foolproof Plants for the South”
Amanda Wilkins
Horticulture Agent, Lee County Cooperative Extension

The South is a brilliant place to garden and the pallette includes some of the best of both cooler and tropical climes. We'll go on a quick jaunt of some solid plant performers while also discovering some good local gardens and plant sources.

"Post Planting Planning"
Mark Weathington
JC Raulston Arboretum at NC State University

You’ve got your site, you’ve got your plants, now what? Let’s talk about planting, mulching, pests and problems. You’ll get the tools and tips to turn your thumbs green.
