Mariel Tribby's lecture will introduce Gertrude Jekyll, her design style, and provide examples of her work in present-day gardens. Mariel will also talk about the renovation of the Herring House landscape at the Missouri Botanical Garden, where she drew on Jekyll's designs for bed layout and selection of plant choices.

About Mariel Tribby

Mariel works as a senior horticulturist at the Missouri Botanical Garden, where she grows and tests a diversity of plants in three rock gardens and a perennial border. She has traveled and botanized in various U.S. western states, Russia, and Kyrgyzstan. Originally from New Mexico, she moved to the Philadelphia area for horticultural training and graduated from the Longwood Gardens Professional Training Program. Mariel did internships at the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh and at the Lautaret Alpine Garden in France. She is a member of the Gateway Chapter of the North American Rock Garden Society (NARGS) and is a member of the board of directors of NARGS, currently serving on the Society's social media and tours and expeditions committees. In August 2021, she received the NARGS Award of Merit for contributions to the society at the annual meeting in Durango, Colorado. She lives with her partner, Greg, and two cats in St. Louis.
