Family Garden Spot

Garden Spotlight

  • Friday, April 23, 2021

Keeping our theme going throughout the month, the Garden Spotlight resources will guide your explorations outside in your yard, on your walks around the neighborhood, or at a local garden or park. Aimed to teach and spark your family's interest in the month's topic, this free printable resource is available for you to download and print at home. We hope you'll use it to learn and explore together.

April's Spotlight—Flowers

Flowers are starting to bloom all over the Arboretum and probably in your gardens too! This month's Garden Spotlight is taking a deeper look at the flowers in your gardens.

Printable resource will be available here on the day of the program for families to print out at home and use in their home gardens. Print out your copy of this month's Garden Spotlight.

Bring April's theme alive at home with a Garden Activity Kit!
Each month we create an activity kit for families to connect with the month's theme. April's Garden Activity Kit features What's Inside A Flower? (And Other Questions About Science & Nature) by Rachel Ignotofsky. This book is easy to read and full of colorful pictures. Each page is packed with illustrations and labels - it's perfect for playing I Spy!

In addition to the book, April's Garden Activity Kit contains a wooden flower press to start your collection of pressed flowers, a pack of marigolds to plant in your garden, and a special creation of pressed flowers and leaves from the JCRA's gardens.

Limited number of kits are available for $20. Shipping is available for an additional fee. Visit our online registration e-store to order yours today!
