Family Garden Spot

Garden Spotlight

  • Friday, March 19, 2021 – 10:30 am11:00 am

Keeping our theme going throughout the month, the Garden Spotlight resources will guide your explorations outside in your yard, on your walks around the neighborhood, or at a local garden or park. Aimed to teach and spark your family's interest in the month's topic, this free printable resource is available for you to download and print at home. We hope you'll use it to learn and explore together.

March's Spotlight—Weather

How does the weather affect your garden? Rain gauges, weather vanes, and all sorts of tools can help you measure things like rainfall, wind, and humidity. Observing what the weather is each day in your garden can help you predict how the plants will grow and what you might need to do to help them! Print out your copy of this month's Garden Spotlight and learn more about instruments that measure the weather.

Bring March's Theme Alive at Home with a Garden Activity Kit

Take your study of weather even further! In this beautifully illustrated book, you will explore four different types of weather: sun, rain, ice and snow, and extreme weather.

March's Garden Activity Kit contains a hardback copy of Look at the Weather by Britta Teckentrup, a cloud identification craft, weather journal, a rain lily plant and a special JCRA surprise. Limited number of kits are available for $20.00. Shipping is available this month for an additional fee.
