JCRA Garden Scout Event

Great Backyard Bird Count

  • Saturday, February 14, 2015 – 1:30 pm2:30 pm

The first event of the year for the JCRA Garden Scouts! Our JCRA Garden Scouts will count birds in the gardens for the annual Great Backyard Bird Count held by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and National Audubon Society.

In 2014, Great Backyard Bird Count participants counted nearly 4,300 species of birds in 135 countries. This year, we'll add the JC Raulston as one of those participants!

JCRA Garden Scouts is a year-long program for children and youth of all ages. Throughout the year, Garden Scouts will participate in various citizen science projects in the gardens as a group. Garden Scouts also receive news about other citizen science projects in the area to take part in, receive an official "Citizen Scientist" JCRA badge, a free ticket to either Raulston Blooms! or the Summer Solstice Ice Cream Social, and a selection of plants from those being observed for Project BudBurst.
