March 13 will be a day devoted to the Camellia at the JC Raulston Arboretum. A camellia display show will be held from 12:30 PM to 5:00 PM in the Ruby C. McSwain Education Center and will include a seminar on camellia culture from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM.

The Triangle Camellia Society invites you to bring and enter your blooms. Blooms, one bloom to a stem, will be accepted from 8:30 AM-11:00 AM. Members of the Triangle Camellia Society will be available to try to identify those unknown camellias you have growing in your yard. Don't forget to vote on your favorite bloom. You will be the judge at this "unjudged" camellia show.

Seminar Presenters

Bill Howell, who is a long-time member of the Tidewater Camellia Society in Wilmington, has been growing prize-winning camellias for many years. He will present a slide show of camellia varieties that he has found grow well and will survive the extreme winter weather conditions in Piedmont and Eastern North Carolina.

Frank Gallaway, also a member of the Tidewater Camellia Society, is from Bolivia, North Carolina, where he raises camellias, tropical plants, and cattle. His beautiful camellia blooms are taking home blue ribbons from shows in North and South Carolina. He will do a demonstration on how to graft camellia cuttings.

Anne Clapp, a member of the Triangle Camellia Society, is well known locally for her Saturday morning gardening program on WPTF radio. She will demonstrate how to root camellia cuttings.

Door prizes will be awarded at the end of the presentations.

Come a little early on Saturday and enjoy our 11:00 AM Camellia and Other Spring Flowering Plants Tour.
