Question How do I join or renew my membership?
Answer Join or renew your membership online.
Question When will I receive my membership card(s)?
Answer You will receive your printed membership card(s) via mail. If you need a digital copy at any time, or need us to reprint, just contact us at jcramembership@ncsu.edu .
Question How do I know when my membership expires?
Answer Memberships are for 12 months from the date you join or renew. You will be reminded to renew your membership before it expires.
Question What part of my membership payment is tax deductible?
Answer Individual, Family/Dual and Explorer Memberships are not tax-deductible, given you will receive benefits equal to or greater than your purchase.
The following amounts of each membership level are tax-deductible:
- Collector $300, $125 is tax deductible
- Patron $600, $360 is tax deductible
- Founder $1250, $995 is tax deductible
- Benefactor $2500, $2175 is tax deductible
- Philanthropist $5,000, $4540 is tax deductible
Question Why doesn’t JC Raulston Arboretum appear on my credit card statement?
Answer Note: "JC Raulston Arboretum" will not appear on your credit card statement. Online donations are processed through the North Carolina Agricultural Foundation, Inc., within the Office of College Advancement. Your statement will include a charge from them. "NC STATE GIVING" will appear on your statement.
Question How do I update my contact information?
Answer Please send an email to jcramembership@ncsu.edu. or contact the Membership Coordinator at 919-515-7004 or kbwall@ncsu.edu. Contact information includes members’ names, email, and mailing addresses, as well as phone numbers.
Question How do I get discounts and benefits from 360+ gardens around the country who participate in the Reciprocal Gardens Network of the American Horticultural Society?
Answer Show your membership card when you visit participating gardens. Learn more about the Reciprocal Gardens Network on the website of the American Horticultural Society.

Question Is a Family/Dual level membership just for couples and families?
Answer No. Adults of your choosing can be on a membership together with one mailing address and two email addresses.
Question Must I include emails and phone numbers of people receiving a gift membership?
Answer Both contacts are necessary for us to communicate with our members efficiently. Emails are particularly important since upcoming exhibits, events and special programs are announced in our monthly e-Update newsletter.
Question Can I pay for membership through a donor-advised fund or IRA?
Answer IRAs and Donor Advised Funds cannot be used to pay for total or partial memberships that are not fully deductible contributions since the membership includes benefits. To ensure we comply with IRS regulations, our membership levels do not qualify as fully tax-deductible. The membership web page details the tax deductible contribution per level. You will notice there are no tax deductible contributions for any level below Collector.
IRAs and Donor Advised Funds cannot be used to pay for total or partial memberships that are not fully deductible contributions since the membership includes benefits. Please purchase your membership through a personal account to receive all the benefits a JCRA membership has to offer. Please be assured, your memberships will continue to support the JC Raulston Arboretum.

Question Do I need to add a second name on membership applications for the Dual level and above?
Answer It is not required that you specify a second cardholder name at the Dual level and above. The second card will be issued as "Guest of".
Question When will my membership expire?
Answer Your membership is valid for one year from the month you purchased it.
