Plant Sales and Auctions
The JC Raulston Arboretum offers several ways to purchase plants for your landscape. These sales and auctions are help raise funds to keep the arboretum open.
The Plant Stand (On-site)
Next time you visit the JC Raulston Arboretum, be sure to check out the small plant sales area located outside the Bobby G. Wilder Visitor Center. It’s a popular spot for visitors to find a small and ever-changing eclectic assortment of plants for sale. Self-checkout purchases can made with cash, check, and credit card. The plant stand is open rain or shine during regular Arboretum operating hours. New plants are added twice per week, so check out the plant stand list online or drop by often to peruse the cart.
JC Raulston Arboretum Spring Plant Sale (On-site)
Once per year in spring, the JCRA has a giant on-site plant sale in conjunction with our Raulston Blooms! spring festival. At this event we offer thousands of plants for sale.
JC Raulston Arboretum Preorder Plant Sale (Online - Spring and Autumn)
Each spring and autumn, the JCRA holds an online plant sale for the opportunity to preorder select plants for pick-up at the arboretum. Members shop first, so join today so you don't miss your chance to order some great plants.
Plant Auctions
In addition to our plant sales, the JC Raulston Arboretum holds two rare plant auctions per year. One auction in the winter (January or February) is associated with our Winter Symposium and the other auction in summer (June) is associated with our Southeastern Plant Symposium
Your purchases keeps the JC Raulston Arboretum growing strong! Each gift, membership, or purchase supports the NC Agricultural Foundation, Inc. (Tax ID #56-6049304) for the benefit of the JCRA.
Plant Giveaways
In appreciation of the support our members give to the JC Raulston Arboretum, we give them thousands of plants every year. Join or renew today to participate in our Annual Plant Giveaway and Connoisseur Plants programs.
Annual Plant Giveaway
The epic event of public horticulture where thousands of choice and rare plants disappear in five minutes after the whistle blows. The Friends of the Arboretum Annual Plant Giveaway is traditionally held on the first Saturday of each October. Check our calendar to see when our next will take place.
Connoisseur Plants
Connoisseur Plants are rare new plants or hard to find old favorites, and they are part of the annual membership drive to benefit the Arboretum's many fine programs and its day-to-day operational expenses. These wonderful plants are sent to those who join the Friends of JC Raulston Arboretum at the Sponsor, Patron, Founder, Benefactor, or Philanthropist levels.
Annual Seed Giveaway
Since 2022 the JCRA has held an annual seed giveaway for our members. The dates vary a bit each year but it is generally held sometime around early March. Keep your eyes on your email account for a link to the order form. Read more here.
