Thursday's Friends of the Arboretum Lecture has been canceled due to the recently modified and extended Fuel Conservation/Travel Directive from the Office of State Budget and Management.

An exciting, interactive one-hour program that will introduce you to some of the alien invaders in North Carolina (and we don't mean the spaceship kind!). Learn how to identify and report giant salvinia, as well as what you can do to prevent spreading it. Don't miss this unique opportunity to have an alien encounter of your own and meet some of these threatening invaders face to face.

Invasive species are the second leading cause of extinction. They spread quickly and are extremely difficult and costly to remove, costing the United State alone $13 billion a year.

This program was made possible by a grant from National Geographic's Strange Days on Planet Earth. Additional funding from Sea Studios Foundation, Vulcan Productions, and National Geographic.
