Forest Bathing

A Guided Journey into Nature's Wisdom
Shawn Ramsey

  • Sunday, April 19, 2026 — 10 am - 12 pm

In Person
The Japanese Garden at the JCRA

Step away from the stresses of daily life and into the calming embrace of nature. Led by certified Forest Therapy Guide Shawn Ramsey, this two-hour guided forest bathing experience invites you to slow down, awaken your senses, and reconnect with the natural world in a meaningful way.

Inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku (Forest Bathing) and supported by growing scientific research, this experience promotes relaxation, improved mood, and enhanced well-being.

As you meander through the natural areas of the JC Raulston Arboretum, you’ll be gently guided through a series of mindfulness practices and nature-based invitations designed to foster presence, curiosity, and a deeper sense of connection.

This is more than a walk in the woods—restorative journey for your body, mind and spirit. Come as you are, and leave feeling grounded, refreshed, and inspired by the wisdom of the natural world.

What to Expect
  • A gentle, mindful walk with regular pauses (called "sit stops") along the way
  • Guided invitations to connect with the natural world and your inner landscape
  • A welcoming, inclusive group experience with time for quiet and personal reflection

This workshop is designed to be inclusive and accessible for people of all abilities. Please let us know in advance if accommodations are needed.

Rain Plan

The walk will continue if it's raining lightly, which can actually enhance the sensory experience. The walk will only be canceled if unsafe weather is in the immediate forecast (thunderstorms, torrential downpours, hail, ice, etc.).

Can't make it Sunday morning? Join Shawn on Thursday afternoon, April 16 at 1 pm for Forest Bathing.
