As part of the 50th anniversary celebration of the founding of the JC Raulston Arboretum, UNC Press is publishing a revised and updated edition of Bobby J. Ward's 2009 biography of J. C. Raulston, Chlorophyll in His Veins. Come celebrate the official book launch with Bobby's talk on J. C.'s life, legacy and continuing impact on the horticulture world since the first edition.

The arboretum will have copies of the new Chlorophyll in His Veins for purchase and signing.
About Bobby J. Ward

Bobby grew up in eastern North Carolina and is a retired environmental scientist with degrees in biology and plant physiology from East Carolina University and North Carolina State University. He is the author or editor of four gardening books and has written for Horticulture, Carolina Gardener, and The Rock Garden Quarterly magazines, and the Raleigh News & Observer.
His book, A Contemplation Upon Flowers: Garden Plants in Myth and Literature, earned the Quill & Trowel Award from the Garden Writers Association of America. Bobby was profiled in Horticulture magazine in 2025 and described as "one of the most respected names in the world of horticulture."
