Embracing Your Mind-Body Connection

Celebrate World Meditation Day with this workshop created to help you embrace your mind-body connection.

Together, we will explore the two-way relationship where the mind influences the body, and the body influences the mind. We will learn about how a strong mind-body connection supports your health and well-being through:

  • Stress reduction
  • Better sleep quality
  • Enhanced self-awareness
  • Better emotional and physical health

We will also practice ways to strengthen that connection, including:

  • Simple body-mind awareness techniques
  • An in-depth body scan, to encourage a deep connection with physical sensations
  • Integration of breath with the body scan
  • Resetting your central nervous system through vagus nerve stimulation
  • Mindful flow and movement
  • Time in nature
  • Self-reflection and journaling
Your hosts
  • Shawn Ramsey, Forest Therapy Guide and Positive Psychology and Mindset Coach
  • Sharri Gaines, Certified Yoga Instructor and Reiki Practitioner

What to Expect:

This experience will include some time sitting, standing and walking. It will also include opportunities for us to gather as a group, and other opportunities designed to help you connect with nature one-on-one. If you have trouble with any of these activities, please let us know in advance so we can accommodate your needs if possible.

Participants must be at least 12 years of age. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. All participants will be required to sign a waiver.

No experience with meditation and/or mindfulness is required.

Tea and snacks will be provided. Please disclose any allergies.

What to Bring:

  • Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing (check your forecast)
  • Rain gear, if rain is in the forecast
  • Water and light snacks
  • A journal—paper will be provided otherwise
