Crafting a garden that reflects your individuality amidst the myriad of tasks can feel overwhelming. Where to begin? How to translate your essence into your outdoor space? Will it be a masterpiece or merely a jumble?

Such doubts often hinder the first steps into the garden. However, fear not. Helen Yoest's latest work, Beginner's Guide to Garden Planning and Design, serves as a beacon, gently leading you through the maze of uncertainties, fostering confidence to infuse your garden with your unique flair.

Helen is a dear friend of the JCRA and we are excited to celebrate the release of her newest book. Helen will be with us to share her ideas and spark inspiration to imbue your garden with your creativity. Copies of her book will be available for purchase, ensuring you can carry home a bundle of inspiration. And be sure to request her signature on your copy!

The Friends of the Arboretum lectures offer our community a delightful opportunity to come together and indulge in the company of gardening enthusiasts while soaking in enriching lectures. We encourage you to bring your friends and neighbors, inviting them to get to know us! The first half-hour of the program will be a time to gather and share garden stories, swap ideas and enjoy each other's company. The lecture portion of the program will begin at 7:00 pm.

About Helen Yoest

Helen Yoest

Helen is an award-winning garden writer, where her work has appeared in most of the top shelter and garden magazines including, Southern Living, Better Homes & Gardens, Fine Gardening and many more. More recently, you can find her stories in Walter Magazine and Triangle Gardener Magazine. Helen has also authored three books, including Plants with Benefits, which was featured in The New York Times.

When producing stories for top magazines, Helen also styled gardens with practices she shares in her new book, Beginner’s Guide to Garden Planning and Design.

Free for Friends of the JC Raulston Arboretum members and their guests.

Advance registration is required since space is limited. Register through our online registration store.

If your plans change and you're not able to attend, please email jcraprograms@ncsu.edu as soon as you know so that we can make your spot available for another member to attend.
