We love talking to our fellow plant nerds! Justin Whitehill is an Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist with NC State University who is the lead for NC State's Christmas Tree Genetics Program. In the past few decades, the Christmas tree production industry has seen demand for real Christmas trees skyrocket, while at the same time encountering new production challenges exacerbated by climate change. Join us for this Garden Conversation where our Director, Mark, will sit down with Justin to talk about his research improving the resilience of trees used in Christmas tree production, the pest management challenges inherent to a changing climate, as well as North Carolina's future outlook for this economically important crop!
