Spines, thorns and prickles (and there is a difference) aren't everyone's favorite part of a plant, and they may even send some of us running away screaming. But plants with vicious vegetative characteristics can be highly functional, making great barriers for keeping out unwanted guests, as well as providing safety, protection and habitat for all manner of garden creatures. Join us for this special Spooky Season edition of Deeper in the Garden where our Director of Horticulture, Greg, and Research Technician, Tim, will show off some of their favorite "Bloodthirsty Plants", and give you some ideas for incorporating them into your own garden.
