The ubiquity of native plants in our surroundings may cause us to take them for granted and stop seeing them altogether. But there are rare and unusual native plants all throughout the southeastern U.S. that may warrant we take another look. Join Zachary Hill, the Plant Records Specialist/Taxonomist at the Juniper Level Botanic Garden as he highlights some unusual specimens from our native plant palette.

Sarracenia purpurea flowers

Zach will show us some rare and interesting plants that he has seen in the Southeast on his various botanical explorations—from the habitats of the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Coastal Plain down to the Gulf Coast, including new species yet to be named. Many of these unusual plants are being grown at Juniper Level Botanic Garden as part of the garden's ex-situ conservation program.
