Who doesn't love a great story? Bring your lunch and listen to a classic read-aloud while you watch the Arboretum come alive this spring! Each week, we'll explore a different area of the garden and complete a nature activity inspired by the day's reading. Includes a little literary analysis, a bit of nature study, some artistic endeavors, science, geography and more!
Spring Book Selection
The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett
A beloved classic, this is a story of rebirth as a result of the power of love. Mary Lennox, a sickly and contrary little girl, is orphaned and sent to her uncle's gloomy English estate. Her only friend is a bed-ridden boy named Colin whose prospects might actually be worse than hers! But when Mary finds the key to a secret garden, transformation falls within their reach.
