"An Introduction to East Asian Cymbidiums"

East Asian cymbidiums are remarkable plants that are considered difficult to nurture by even the most experienced among North American orchid hobbyists. However, very little information on how to grow these plants exists in English. In this presentation, Michael Hwang will teach us everything he knows about East Asian cymbidiums. You'll gain an appreciation of the importance of East Asian cymbidiums in Asian societies and learn about the unique cultural techniques for growing temperate cymbidium species.

About Michael Hwang

Michael Hwang is an orchid hobbyist, and has been growing orchids for more than 15 years. His family immigrated to Canada in the early 1990s from Taiwan and he is currently living in Toronto, Canada. Michael's orchid collection is composed of mainly Cattleya, Dendrobium, and Paphiopedilum species, and Japanese Cymbidium goeringii. He took a special interest in East Asian cymbidiums when he first started growing orchids, especially Cymbidium goeringii. Over the years, Michael has collected and read numerous books and literature about East Asian cymbidiums in Chinese and Japanese.
