"Controlling Image Sharpness (Depth of Field)"
Mary Louise Ravese, Bella Vista Photography
- Wednesday, May 13, 2020 – 10:00 am–12:00 pm
Our eyes naturally go to areas of sharpness in a photo, so we can use a mix of sharpness and blur in a photograph to direct the viewer 's eye and tell the story of an image. Mary Louise will explain how we can adjust camera settings to control where there is sharpness (aka depth of field) in an image. Then we 'll practice shallow and deep depth of field techniques by photographing the flowering trees, vines and bulbs in bloom in the Arboretum.
What to bring
Ideally suited for DSLR and mirrorless cameras. A lens with telephoto zoom capabilities over 70 mm focal length would be a plus. Some techniques may not be achievable with point-n-shoot cameras and smartphone cameras that do not have "portrait mode."
