Project PLANTS is a summer camp for rising 7th grade students who are excited to explore the natural world and see science from a new angle. Each day, students will be engaged in hands-on activities covering topics such as plant development and processes, plant propagation, plant breeding, vegetable and fruit production, post-harvest issues, and environmental stewardship.

Daily experiments, activities, recipes, and crafts will inspire a new appreciation and curiosity for everyday science and inspire a lifelong interest in horticultural and agricultural sciences.

Lunch and snacks are provided to campers as well as all materials needed for the activities. Students will need to provide their own transportation to and from camp.

Students attending Project PLANTS Summer Camp will be admitted based upon the student's interest in science and conducting a research project, the student's past involvement with science, and access to science enrichment.

Applications are due April 15, 2016.

Project PLANTS is a collaboration between the JC Raulston Arboretum, NC Cooperative Extension 's 4-H Grow For It Program, and the Department of Horticultural Science and generously supported by a Student Science Enrichment Program Grant from the Burroughs Wellcome Fund.
