Enjoy a day devoted to cut flowers. Learn everything you need to know – growing and selecting cut flowers, their postharvest care, creating arrangements with cut flowers, and even how to enter flower shows.

Presentations

"Growing Your Own Cut Flowers" – John Dole, Ph.D.
Nothing brightens a home like fresh flowers – especially if you grew them yourself. We will discuss which flowers work well in the garden and make great cut flowers in the home.

"Your Cut Flowers Can Last Longer!" – Frankie Fanelli
Learn the tricks of the professionals! Frankie will share tips on handling cut flowers so you can enjoying them longer. This will include harvest time, hydration, and preservative solutions plus much more.

"Taking the Mystery Out of Flower Shows" – Anne Clapp
Learn how to read the schedule for a flower show so you know how, when, where, and what to enter. The system works for a show as large as the State Fair or as small as the one that accompanies this seminar.

Demonstrations

Building upon the talks earlier in the day, the seminar will conclude with several flower arranging demonstrations presented by Jane Barbot, Vandi Bradow, and Anne Clapp in addition to postharvest demonstrations by Frankie Fanelli .

This "A Cut Flower Education" seminar is being held in conjunction with a small standard flower show sponsored by the Raleigh Garden Club.
