"Creative garden photography techniques with the iPhone "

Part of the fun of iPhone photography is the freedom to experiment. In this session you will learn about two specialized camera apps and an image editing app on the phone that open up a world of creative possibilities for your smartphone photography.
With these camera apps, we will explore the techniques of intentional camera movement (aka ICM) and multiple exposures, and sometimes both techniques together, to produce creative and artful imagery. These techniques are relatively simple to master and the apps offer some control over the process.
Then with the image editing app Snapseed, you will see how photos from your iPhone photos library can be combined and transformed into unique composite images. With the arboretum garden offering an abundance of colorful blooms at this time of year, it is a great time and place to explore and put your imagination to work.
For this session we start in the classroom learning about the camera apps and shooting technique. Next, we will proceed to photograph in the garden. Then we return to the classroom to discuss making composite images.
This class is suitable for iPhone 13 or newer iPhone models.
Note: Participants should download three apps to their phone (apps are either free or cost no more than $5.00 each) from the Apple AppStore in advance of the session:
- SlowShutterCam (enables intentional camera movement aka ICM photography)
- AvgCamPro (enables multiple exposure photography)
- Snapseed (multi-purpose photo editing app on the iPhone)
About Mary Louise Ravese
Mary Louise Ravese specializes in fine art nature and travel photography from locations across the world. Her photographs are in private, university and corporate collections in over 40 states and are exhibited nationally. She is the owner and principal photographer for Bella Vista Photography.
Mary Louise is a regular speaker and competition judge for photography clubs in multiple states. She is an experienced photography instructor who has trained hundreds of amateur photographers. She enjoys teaching on a wide range of topics related to nature, travel, and creative photography, and can help with both the technical and aesthetic aspects of picture making.
