Open Day at the Joslin Garden

Please join William and Mary Coker Joslin as they celebrate spring. The Joslins are inviting all to explore their delightful garden, which ranges in styles from formal to informal and includes a diverse collection of native and exotic plants.
Since 1950, the Joslins have been developing the garden that surrounds their lovely home, which is situated on over four acres in the heart of Raleigh. Visitors can explore the garden's distinct areas by following informal paths that connect a collection of camellias, an arboretum of unusual trees, a native woodland, and a formal patio garden. Naturalistic groupings of special native and cultivated plants, including some rare specimens, and drifts of spring-blooming bulbs and other geophytes provide colorful surprises along the way. Many of the plants are especially treasured, since they were gifts from J. C. Raulston, Ph.D.; William Lanier Hunt, Ph.D.; and D. R. Coker.
Since the path traverses changes in topography and crosses a natural stream via several wooden bridges, please wear appropriate footwear and exercise caution during your visit.
The Joslins have made their garden a generous gift to North Carolina State University. The property will serve as an extension of the JC Raulston Arboretum and an invaluable resource for University faculty, students, and the community.
