Presenting basic through advanced approaches encouraging the use of conventional and digital photography to document gardens and landscapes, "before and after" shots, plant identification, and aesthetic presentation. How to create pleasing and pragmatic photos with discussions about prevailing light, elements of composition, and philosophical interpretations of subject matter. All speakers will cover the full range of abilities, but all participants must be in full command of their camera's use.

About the Speakers

Bryce Lane Instructor and Undergraduate Coordinator, NC State University
Bryce Lane has honed his photographic skills to elevate the level of his courses at NC State University. Most recently, his work has been utilized to a great extent in the online course and PBS television program, "In the Garden with Bryce Lane.

Bob Lyons Distinguished Professor, North Carolina State University and JC Raulston Arboretum Director
A professional photographer, he has shown his work nationally, published over 200 photographs, is a principal photographer for Horticopia CD-ROMs, and has received awards from the Garden Writers Association of America, among others.

Robert McDuffie Associate Professor, Virginia Tech
Robert McDuffie has been taking photographs for over 25 years. His work is primarily used to supplement his courses at Virginia Tech. He also integrates his photographic skills into his personal landscape architecture practice. Robert teaches landscape oriented courses at Virginia Tech including "History of Landscape Architecture, Landscape Construction, and Computer Aided Design.

Cost
$10.00 for Friends of the JC Raulston Arboretum members, all others $20.00. Bring your membership card to check in quickly, but as always, we will have a membership list at registration.
